- 4 egg yolks
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 stick butter
- 1 c. evaporated milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 partially baked pie shell
- 8 Tbsp. sugar (additional)
Directions

1Beat together egg yolks and sugar.

2Place in medium saucepan over low heat.

3Melt butter in egg mixture, stirring constantly. Remove from heat as soon as butter melts.

4Add evaporated milk and vanilla.

5Pour into crust and bake for 15 minutes at 400°.

6Then reduce heat and bake until custard is set.

7Cover pie with meringue made from 4 egg whites and 8 tablespoons of sugar. Return to oven to brown meringue.

8Watch carefully.
