- 1 (11 1/2 oz.) pkg. milk chocolate chips
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 30 caramels
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 c. coarsely chopped peanuts
Directions

1Over hot (not boiling) water, melt chips and shortening until smooth.

2Remove from heat and pour half of mixture in foil-lined 8-inch square pan, spread evenly.

3Refrigerate until firm (about 15 minutes).

4Return chocolate to hot water.

5Over boiling water, melt caramels, butter and water.

6Stir until smooth.

7Stir in nuts. Pour over chocolate in pan.

8Spread evenly.

9Refrigerate until tacky (15 minutes).

10Top with remaining chocolate; spread evenly. Return to refrigerator until firm (about 1 hour).

11Cut and refrigerate until ready to serve.
