- 2 12-3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 (8 ounce) package fast-rising active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 cup water
- 13 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 egg
Directions

1Mix 1 1/2 cups of flour with yeast, sugar, and salt in large bowl.

2Heat water, milk and butter to 125 to 130; stir into yeast mixture.

3Stir in egg.

4Stir in enough or remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.

5Sprinkle a surface lightly with flour.

6Turn dough onto the surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.

7Cover and let rise 10 minutes.

8Lightly grease a cookie sheet.

9Shape a 2-inch piece of dough into a ball for head, and 4 walnut-size pieces for feet.

101 more walnut-size piece shaped for tail, and remaining dough into ball for body.

11Place on cookie sheet and flatten slightly.

12Attach head, feet and tail by place 1 end of each under edge of body to secure.

13Press in raisins for eyes if desired.

14Cover and let rise 20 minutes.

15Heat oven to 400.

16Make crisscross cuts in body, 1/4 inch deep, to look like a turtle's shell.

17Bake until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
