- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 3/4 c. oleo, softened
- 1 c. chocolate chips
- 1 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Unwrap caramels and put in top of double boiler with evaporated milk.

2Heat to dissolve caramels.

3Prepare cake mix according to package directions, using oleo in place of oil. Grease and flour 9 x 13-inch pan.

4(Do not use spray oil.)

5Put 1/2 of cake mixture in pan and bake at 350° until bubbly and puffy, about 10 to 12 minutes.

6Put the caramel and milk mixture on top of first cake layer, then nuts and chocolate chips.

7Cover with balance of cake mixture and bake 25 to 30 minutes.

8If desired, sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
