  • 2 cups water
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 3 lemons, strips of zest from
  • 1 cup lemon juice (4 lemons)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 4 cups ice water

Directions

    For the syrup, bring the water and the sugar to a boil in a medium-sized saucepan.

    Cook for 5 minutes, until sugar is dissolved.

    Add the lemon zest.

    Allow mixture to cool to lukewarm; pour into a glass jar and store in the refrigerator.

    For the lemonade, combine the lemon juice, salt, syrup, and ice water in tall pitcher.

    Stir well and pour into tall, ice filled glasses.
