- 4 slices deli ham
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1 lb. veal round steak, cut into 4 pieces and pounded very thin (butcher will do this if asked)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. white pepper
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 c. bread crumbs
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. white wine
Directions

1Place one slice of ham and Swiss cheese on each piece of veal steak.

2Roll up carefully, beginning at narrow end.

3Secure rolls with toothpicks.

4Mix flour and seasonings.

5Dust veal with seasoned flour.

6Dip floured rolls into beaten egg.

7Coat with bread crumbs.

8Brown in hot shortening.

9Pour wine over meat. Cover and simmer for 55 minutes.

10Uncover and simmer 5 minutes longer.

11Serve with pasta or rice.
