- 5 cups thinly sliced tart apples
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 14 cup water
- 12 cup flour
- 12 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 dash salt
- 12 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Directions

1Toss apples with lemon juice and water in shallow 2-quart baking dish.

2In large bowl, combine flour, oats, sugar, nutmeg and salt.

3Mix to blend.

4With pastry blender cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

5Mix in walnuts.

6Crumble over apples to cover completely.

7Do not pack down.

8Bake in 350 oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until top is lightly browned.

9Serve warm or at room temperature.
