  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1 lb. sifted powdered sugar
  • 11 egg whites, beaten stiff
  • 1/2 c. sweet milk
  • 3/4 lb. sifted flour, warmed
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. lemon

    Weigh flour and sift it once, then warm it a little and sift 4 or 5

    times with baking powder.

    Cream butter; add some of flour and

    other ingredients alternately.

    Bake in loaf or layers.

    bake about 2 hours at 300°.

    This is an old recipe but very good.
