- 1 large chopped onion
- 1 (16 oz.) large can tomatoes
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 clove garlic
- salt and pepper to taste
- ham, cut into cubes
- ham bone
- 1 pkg. 15 beans
- 1 c. chopped carrot
- 1 c. chopped celery
Directions

1Wash beans thoroughly.

2Place beans in a pan; cover with water and 2 tablespoons salt.

3Soak overnight.

4In the morning; drain, add 2 quarts of water.

5Add ham bone and bring to a boil.

6Simmer slowly 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

7Remove ham bone.

8Add onion, tomatoes, chili powder, garlic, ham, carrot, celery, salt and pepper. Simmer until vegetables are done.
