- 2 cups flour, all-purpose
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter softened
- 1 each eggs separated
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/2 cup almonds chopped
Directions

1Heat oven to 350F (180C).

2In large mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, butter, egg yolk and almond extract.

3Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until particles are fine, 2 to 3 minutes.

4Press on bottom of greased 15x10x1-inch jelly-roll pan.

5In small bowl, beat egg white and water until frothy; brush on dough.

6Sprinkle nuts over top.

7Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until very lightly browned.

8Cool completely.

9Cut into bars.

10Makes about 2 1/2 dozen bars.
