- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Soften yeast in water and set aside.

2Measure and sift dry ingredients together.

3Cut in shortening.

4Add milk and yeast; stir until well blended.

5Roll dough 1/2-inch thick and cut in biscuits.

6Place on lightly greased pan and let rise in warm place for 1 hour.

7Bake at 450° for 10 to 15 minutes or until brown. Brush tops with butter.
