- 1 1/4 oz. pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening.

3Add yeast and buttermilk.

4Add flour, if needed, to make a stiff dough.

5Turn onto floured board; knead lightly.

6Roll and cut into 16 biscuits.

7Place onto lightly greased baking sheet.

8Let rise.

9Bake in preheated 400° oven 20 to 25 minutes.
