- 2 to 3 acorn squash
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. applesauce
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425°.

2Cut washed squash in halves, lengthwise.

3Remove seeds.

4Brush cut surface of each half with melted butter.

5Arrange cut side down in shallow pan.

6Bake 30 minutes or until tender.

7Now scoop squash from shells; reserve 4 shells.

8Mash squash; add applesauce, butter and nutmeg.

9Lightly heap mixture into shells.

10Bake until brown.

11Serves 4.
