- 1 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 1/2 c. sliced apples
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 c. rolled oats
Directions

1Sift flour, salt and soda.

2Add brown sugar and oats.

3Cut in shortening until crumbly.

4Spread half of mixture into greased 7 x 11-inch baking dish.

5Add apples and sprinkle with sugar.

6Add remaining crumb mixture.

7Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes.

8Cut into bars and serve warm; or serve cold as a cookie.
