  • 5 to 7 tart apples
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 3/4 to 1 c. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp. butter

Directions

    Line pie pan with pastry.

    Wash, peel and slice apples thin. Mix flour, sugar, salt and spices.

    Combine with apples and place in pastry-lined pan.

    Dot with butter.

    Cover with top crust. Bake in 450° oven for 10 minutes.

    Reduce heat to 375° for 30 minutes (9-inch pie).

    Add 1 teaspoon lemon juice to apples if they are not tart.
