  • 3 medium size firm cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 1/2 slices whole wheat bread, finely crumbled
  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted margarine

Directions

    Preheat the oven to 300°. In a large bowl, toss the apples with the lemon juice, raisins, 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon.

    Spoon the mixture into an ungreased 9-inch pan and set aside.
