  • 1 lb brown lentils, rinsed and picked over
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 medium onion, peeled
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt

Directions

    Put the lentils in a large slow cooker and add the water.

    Stick the cloves in the onion and add it to the lentils with the bay leaf.

    Cover and cook on HIGH for 4-5 hours, or until the lentils are tender.

    Add salt to taste.

    Let stand for 10 minutes.

    Discard the onion and bay leaf.

    Drain the lentils and serve hot.
