- 1 lb. pinto beans
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 Tbsp. bacon fat
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 (No. 2) can tomatoes
- 1/2 c. ketchup
- 1 pkg. chili seasoning
Directions

1Cover beans with water; stir in soda and soak overnight. Drain and wash beans thoroughly to remove soda; add 1 1/2 cups water, bacon fat and salt.

2Cover and cook beans 1 1/2 to 2 hours until tender.

3Brown ground beef; add onion and cook until onion is transparent.

4Add to beans.

5Blend tomatoes in blender until of smooth consistency and add to beans.

6Add ketchup and chili seasoning.

7Cover.

8Bring to a boil on medium high heat; simmer 45 minutes.

9Serve piping hot.
