- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. milk
Directions

1Stir shortening to soften.

2Gradually add sugar; cream thoroughly (12 to 15 minutes) at medium speed on mixer.

3Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour with baking powder and salt.

4Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition.

5Bake in 2 paper-lined 9-inch round cake pans at 375° for about 23 minutes. Frost as desired.
