  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. cake flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • powdered sugar
  • 2 (10 oz.) jars blackberry jam

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

    Add egg, beating well. Beat in dry ingredients that have been sifted together alternately with the milk.

    Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch round pans and bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Remove from pans and cool completely.

    After you have stacked and spread the jam between layers, sift powdered sugar over top layer.
