  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 6 Tbsp. Crisco
  • 2 tsp. 4x sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • melted butter (for brushing tops of biscuits after ten minutes in oven)

Directions

    Sift flour, sugar, salt and baking powder into a bowl.

    Stir in Crisco and milk and mix well.
  3. 3
    Form into biscuits or roll out and cut, if desired.

    Place biscuits on greased pan and press very flat.

    Bake at 425° for 10 minutes.

    Remove and brush tops with melted butter.
  7. 7
    Return to oven and continue baking 10 minutes or until brown.
