- venison steaks
- flour and shortening
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1/2 c. chopped celery
- 1/2 c. chopped apple
- 1/2 c. chopped carrot
- 1/4 c. chopped onion
Directions

1Cover steaks with flour and sear on all sides in shortening. Place steaks in ovenproof dish. Add enough water to cover the bottom of the dish. Add 1 tablespoon vinegar. Cover tightly and cook very slowly in 300° oven about 2 hours, adding a little more liquid as necessary. About 30 minutes before meat is tender, add celery, apple, carrot and onion.
