- 3 slices white bread
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 beaten egg
- 3/4 c. milk
Directions

1Dice and fry bread in butter until crisp.

2Remove and place on paper towel.

3In large bowl, mix flour and salt.

4Mix egg and milk and stir into flour mixture.

5Form into dumplings around bread cubes, using 3 to 4 cubes per dumpling.

6Drop into boiling water, taking care that dumplings do not stick.

7Cover and boil gently 15 to 20 minutes or until done.

8Makes 4 servings.
