  • 1 qt. milk, scalded
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 slices stale bread, crusts removed and buttered, then cubed
  • nutmeg

Directions

    Slightly beat eggs; add sugar, salt and vanilla.

    Slowly add scalded milk and pour on cubed bread in a casserole.

    Sprinkle with nutmeg.

    Put pudding in a pan of hot water and bake at 350° for 1 hour or until done (could take a little longer or a little less time).
