- beef steak, cut 1-inch thick (Porterhouse, T-bone, sirloin or club)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. monosodium glutamate
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Set temperature control of range at broil.

2Arrange steaks on broiler rack.

3Place in broiler with top of steak 2 inches from heat source.

4Broil 8 to 10 minutes on each side, the short cooking time for rare steak.

5When steaks are browned on one side, sprinkle with 1/2 of seasoning mixture.

6Turn and broil second side.

7Do the same with other half seasonings.

8Test for doneness by cutting slit along the bone.
