Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk (substitute is 1/2 c. sweet milk and 1 1/2 tsp. vinegar)
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs

Directions

    Mix flour and sugar together in large bowl; set aside.

    In cooking pan, put oleo, shortening, cocoa and water.

    Place on stove and bring just to boil.

    Remove from heat and pour over sugar and flour mixture; mix lightly.

    Add remaining ingredients. Beat all well 3 to 4 minutes.

    Pour in 2 (8 x 13-inch) greased and floured pans and bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
