Ingredients

  • 2 cups low-fat buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup raisins or 1/4 cup chopped dates
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans.)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

    Prepare a non-stick loaf pan by spraying with cooking spray.

    Mix together all ingredients and pour into prepared pan.

    Place pan in oven and lower oven temperature to 350 degrees.

    Bake for 1 hour.

    Turn loaf out on rack and cool.

    Allow bread to cool at least 8 hours before slicing and toasting this bread.
