- 1/2 c. lukewarm milk
- 1 cake or envelope yeast
- 1/3 c. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 c. butter, melted (for dipping)
Directions

1Crumble yeast into a bowl and add milk or sprinkle dry yeast over milk.

2Let stand until yeast is dissolved.

3Meanwhile, beat dissolved yeast.

4Add flour gradually and beat at least 10 minutes.

5Cover bowl with damp cloth and let stand in warm place until doubled (2 hours).

6Turn onto a floured board and knead for a minute.

7Roll or pat out 1/4-inch thick.

8Cut into diamond shapes.

9Dip each piece in melted butter and place in layers in buttered 8 cup ring mold or buttered casserole.

10Let rise until double (1 hour).

11Bake at 400° until brown and then reduce heat to 350° and bake 40 to 50 minutes.

12If top too brown, put sheet of foil on top.

13Turn on platter.

14Serve hot.
