  • 5 qt. popped corn
  • 2 c. Virginia peanuts
  • 1 c. oleo
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Directions

    Combine oleo, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt in heavy 2-quart saucepan. Cook and stir until sugar dissolves.

    Bring to a boil and cook 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda. Pour a steady stream of syrup over popped corn and peanuts.

    Mix well.

    Put in a 250° oven for 1 hour, stirring every 10 minutes. Store in airtight container.

    Makes about 5 quarts.
