- 1/4 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
- dash of red pepper (optional)
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450°.

2Cut shortening into flour; stir in cheese, mustard and red pepper.

3Add milk; stir with fork until mix resembles coarse crumbs.

5Turn dough out onto cloth; knead just until smooth.

7Cut out and place biscuits on ungreased baking sheet.

8Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
