  • 8 slices bread
  • 8 oz. sharp cheese
  • 1/4 c. melted margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 3/4 tsp. dry mustard
  • 2 c. milk
  • diced ham (optional)
  • sausage (optional)
  • diced green peppers (optional)

Directions

    At least four hours before serving (or may be done the day before) trim crusts from bread.

    Grease a shallow casserole and layer bread slices, then cheese (cut in bite size pieces), then bread, then cheese.

    Pour margarine over.

    Beat eggs well.

    Add salt, pepper, mustard and milk.

    Pour over bread and cheese. Cover and refrigerate.

    Put in 350° oven for 30 minutes covered, another 30 minutes uncovered.
