Ingredients
- 1 lb. sharp cheese
- 3 c. flour
- 2 sticks margarine
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. red pepper
- 1 Tbsp. salt (scant)
- 1/2 c. ice water
Directions

1Grate cheese, put in large bowl and let stand, covered, 8 hours or overnight.

2Melt margarine and pour over cheese.

3Work together by hand.

4Add sifted dry ingredients.

5Add enough of 1/2 cup water to make a rather stiff dough, mixing with hands.

6Press onto slightly greased cookie sheet with a cookie press, using the star shape.

7Cut into desired lengths.

8Bake in preheated 325° oven. Check at 10 minutes; bottom of straw will be very lightly browned when done.

9Ovens vary so cooking time will need to be adjusted accordingly.

10May take 15 to 20 minutes to bake, depending on oven used.
