  • 5 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cream butter and brown sugar; add flour and nuts and mix.

    Set aside 1 cup of the mixture for topping.

    Press remainder in bottom of 8 x 8-inch baking pan.

    Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes. Blend sugar and cream cheese until smooth; add egg, milk, lemon juice and vanilla.

    Beat well.

    Spread over bottom crust and sprinkle with reserved 1 cup topping.

    Return to oven and bake 25 minutes more.

    Cool, then chill and cut into triangles.

    May double recipe and bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
