Cherry Cinnamon Cake

  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 can pie cherries (about 2 c.), well drained and sprinkled with 1/2 c. flour

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs.

    Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with buttermilk.

    Fold in flour-coated cherries. Bake in an 8 x 12-inch sheet pan or 8-inch tube pan at 350° for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

    Frost lightly with creamy white frosting.
