- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 can pie cherries (about 2 c.), well drained and sprinkled with 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs.

2Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with buttermilk.

3Fold in flour-coated cherries. Bake in an 8 x 12-inch sheet pan or 8-inch tube pan at 350° for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

4Frost lightly with creamy white frosting.
