  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of grated fresh ginger
  • 12 cup of pureed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons for garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • salt
  • 13 cup plain yogurt
  • fresh coriander leaves (a bunch)

    Score the chicken pieces with a knife.

    In a small bowl, mix yogurt, turmeric and chili powder.

    Spread the yogurt mix over the chicken and let marinate in the fridge for 1 hour.

    Chop onion and mince the garlic cloves and ginger.

    In a large, heavy-bottom pot, set at medium heat and add oil.

    Add bay leaves and cinnamon and cloves.

    When they start to sizzle and change color, add the onions, garlic and ginger and stir fry until onions are translucent.

    With a smattering of water, add Garam Masala and coriander powder.

    Add the marinated chicken and salt and cook on high heat for 2 minutes.

    Reduce heat and cover pot, letting chicken cook for 6-7 minutes.

    Add the tomato and mix in with the chicken and cover the pot, letting the tomato cook along with the meat for around 10 minutes.
