- 2 c. sifted flour
- 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. butter
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 whole chicken
Directions

1Simmer chicken in 4 cups water for 1 hour.

2Remove chicken from broth.

3Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.

4Cut in butter.

5Beat egg and add milk; stir this into dry ingredients (batter should be quite stiff).

6Drop by spoonfuls into chicken broth (or roll in flour like biscuits).

7Cover pot.

8Raise flame to 1/4 flame.

9Steam for about 20 minutes without lifting cover. Remove cover and serve with or without chicken.
