Ingredients: 2/3 c. shortening; 2 c. brown sugar; 2 eggs, well beaten; 2 tsp. vanilla; 2 c. flour; 1 tsp. baking powder; 1/2 tsp. salt; 1/4 tsp. soda; 1 pkg. chocolate bits

2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. soda
1 pkg. chocolate bits

Directions

Cream together shortening, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and soda.

Add sifted dry ingredients to first mixture, mixing thoroughly.

Stir in chocolate bits.

Spread on large greased cookie sheet and bake in 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

Remove from oven.

Let cool a minute or two; cut in squares.
