- 3 c. packed brown sugar
- 1 c. butter, softened
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 2/3 c. flour
- 3/4 c. cocoa
- 1 Tbsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/3 c. sour cream
- 1 1/3 c. boiling water
Directions

1Cream brown sugar and butter.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

3Beat on high speed until light and fluffy.

4Blend in vanilla.

5Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

6Add alternately with sour cream to mixture.

7Mix on low until just combined.

8Stir in water until blended.

9Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch pans.

10Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

11Cake is done when toothpick comes out clean.

12Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans.
