  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. cake flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1 c. milk

    Sift the cake flour, baking powder and salt 3 times.

    Cream butter and Crisco, adding sugar gradually.

    Add eggs one at a time.

    Mix in vanilla and part of milk.

    Add dry ingredients alternately with remaining milk.

    Bake at 325° until toothpick comes out clean, about 1 1/4 hours.
