  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Bring first four ingredients to boil.

    Sift together flour and sugar, pour boiled mixture over.

    Add buttermilk, soda, eggs and vanilla.

    Mix well and pour in greased and floured 13 x 11-inch pan.

    Bake 30 minutes at 400°.

    Start icing 5 minutes before cake is done.
