Ingredients: 1 stick butter or margarine; 3 Tbsp. cocoa; 1/2 c. shortening; 1 c. water; 2 c. plain flour; 2 c. sugar; 1 tsp. soda; 1 tsp. salt; 2 eggs, beaten; 1/2 c. buttermilk; 1 tsp. vanilla; Chocolate Icing

3 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. water
2 c. plain flour
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
Chocolate Icing

Directions

In saucepan, melt and heat to boiling the butter, cocoa, shortening and water. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, soda and salt.

Combine and mix with cocoa mixture.

In a small bowl, combine the eggs, buttermilk and vanilla.

Combine and mix well with the other ingredients. Pour into greased 13 x 11-inch baking dish. Bake at 325° for 30 minutes.

Leave cake in pan. Cover with icing after removing cake from oven.
