  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/2 lb. veal, pork, lamb or beef
  • 1 tsp. salt (for each 1 lb. meat)
  • pepper
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 c. onion
  • 2 c. celery
  • 1/2 c. green peppers
  • 1/4 c. pimento
  • 1 small can mushrooms
  • 1/4 c. cornstarch plus 1/4 c. water
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Chinese molasses
  • a little soy sauce

Directions

    Brown meat in butter; sprinkle with salt and pepper.

    Cover meat with water; steam for 30 minutes.

    Add 1/4 cup water to butter.

    Add celery, green peppers and onion.

    Cover and steam 5 or 8 minutes.

    Combine vegetables with the meat.

    Add mushrooms, Chinese molasses and sauce.

    Add cornstarch mix.

    Cook until boiling point.
