- 1 qt. whole milk
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 c. sugar
- dash of salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Put milk in double boiler and when thoroughly heated, add eggs, sugar and salt which have been previously mixed together. Cook approximately 10 minutes or longer, stirring constantly.

2Do not overcook as milk will curdle.

3Custard is done when it coats a wooden spoon.

4Add vanilla to taste.

5My dad usually added something a little stronger.

6Chill as cold as possible.

7Also, good over vanilla ice cream.
