Christmas Boiled Custard

Ingredients

  • 1 qt. whole milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Put milk in double boiler and when thoroughly heated, add eggs, sugar and salt which have been previously mixed together. Cook approximately 10 minutes or longer, stirring constantly.

    Do not overcook as milk will curdle.

    Custard is done when it coats a wooden spoon.

    Add vanilla to taste.

    My dad usually added something a little stronger.

    Chill as cold as possible.

    Also, good over vanilla ice cream.
