Ingredients

  • 2 slices pork or bacon, diced
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 1 c. water
  • 3 large potatoes, diced
  • 1 level tsp. salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 doz. clams, chopped
  • 1 qt. milk
  • 2 level Tbsp. butter
  • 2 level Tbsp. flour
  • 8 crackers
  • 1 tsp. chopped parsley

Directions

    Dry out the pork or bacon and fry the onion in the fat.

    Add the clam liquor, water and potatoes.
  3. 3
    Cook until tender; season. Add the clams and milk.

    Cook 10 minutes longer.

    Then thicken with the butter and flour, creamed together.

    Pour the chowder over the crackers and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
