  • 1 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. corn meal
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening, melted
  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. hot dogs
  • vegetable oil for frying

Directions

    Combine flour, corn meal, sugar, mustard, baking powder and salt.

    Add milk, egg and shortening.

    Mix until smooth.

    Pour mixture into a tall glass and dip hot dogs in one at a time.

    Fry in vegetable oil heated to 375° until golden brown.
