Date Nut Candy Roll

Ingredients
- 1 (7 oz.) pkg. seeded dates
- 1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 2 c. white sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. milk or cream
- 3 Tbsp. margarine
Directions

1In a heavy saucepan, boil rapidly the dates, milk or cream and sugar for 20 minutes or until dates are dissolved, stirring frequently to get the dates well mixed.

2Cook until mixture reaches soft boil stage.

3Remove from fire and add margarine, vanilla and chopped pecans.

4Cool.

5Beat until mixture is stiff enough to knead as you would a soft dough.

6Anchor a clean, damp dish or pastry cloth over a bread board.

7Finish kneading to have an easily handled fondant-like mixture.

8Roll in long, thin rolls in waxed paper and put into the fridge to harden.

9Cut in small pieces for serving.
