  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/3 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • pinch of salt

Directions

    Beat egg. Add sugar. Melt butter and cocoa together. Add milk and flour alternately. Bake at 325° for 20 minutes in two 8 x 8-inch pans. Line pans with wax paper. Allow paper to come up sides of pan. When cool, frost with the following Mocha Icing.
