Ingredients

  • 3 qt. figs (4 lb.), cut up (preferably Kadota figs)
  • 1 lb. seedless raisins
  • 2 oranges with peeling
  • 6 c. sugar
  • 1 c. pecans, coarsely chopped

Directions

    Wash figs and cut into small pieces.

    Wash oranges.
  3. 3
    Squeeze juice into figs.

    Grind raisins and oranges, including peeling (using fine plate), and add to figs.

    Cook mixture for approximately 55 minutes, until transparent or done.

    Stir often to prevent scorching.

    Add coarsely chopped pecans to cooked mixture and continue cooking another 5 to 10 minutes, again stirring to keep mixture from scorching.

    Pour into sterilized jars and seal.

    Yields 8 pints.
