  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. coconut extract
  • 1 tsp. butter extract
  • 5 eggs, beaten
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. rum extract
  • 1 tsp. orange extract

    Cream butter and shortening.

    Gradually add sugar and eggs; beat well.

    Add flour and milk alternately, ending with flour. Add extracts in milk.

    Bake in greased and floured 10-inch round tube pan for 25 minutes at 275°.

    Raise temperature to 350° and bake 35 minutes more.

    Let cool in pan.

    Remove and punch holes in cake with toothpick.
