French Meat Pie

- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 lb. ground pork
- 1 c. mashed potatoes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- pastry for double crust pie (9-inch)
- 1 egg, beaten (optional)
Directions

1In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat.

2Saute onion until tender.

3Remove and set aside.

4Brown beef and pork together; drain.

5Combine onion, meat, potatoes and seasonings.

6Line pie plate with pastry; fill with meat mixture.

7Top with other crust. Brush with egg, if desired.

8Bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.

9Yields 6 to 8 servings.
